Advocate Danstan Omari recently took a legal step on behalf of learners and parents associated with Kitengela International School. They filed an application seeking an injunction to halt the ongoing Form One selection process. The motive behind this move is the dissatisfaction stemming from the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, which were released just last week.

In their plea to the court, the concerned parents are requesting a temporary block on the placement process while they pursue an appeal against the recently published KCPE results. The uncertainty surrounding the academic fate of their children has prompted them to seek legal intervention.

The Headteacher of Kitengela International School, in a communication sent to the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec), expressed dissatisfaction with the released KCPE results. Faced with these outcomes, the school principal urged the Kenya National Examinations Council to conduct a thorough scrutiny, verification, and review of “all candidates’ answer scripts” to ensure that they receive the marks they rightfully deserve.

In a plea for fairness, the headteacher pointed out that some of the Kitengela International School candidates have already joined other schools due to the disappointment caused by the KCPE results. Surprisingly, these students are reportedly receiving higher marks in their new schools compared to their peers who traditionally outperformed them.

This application for an injunction signals a legal battle initiated by the concerned parties to address what they perceive as inaccuracies and unfairness in the assessment and grading process of the KCPE results. As the legal proceedings unfold, the fate of the Form One
