The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has today won big ahead of Thursday’ s anti- Ruto’ s protests as it emerges that the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu has declined the application to register a rival ODM Party.

While issuing the ruling seen as a sign of relief to the Former Prime Minister’ s move of ODM dominating his Nyanza stronghold, Nderitu warned that the application made by ex- Kisumu Chief Executive Committee Member Thomas Ondijo Owitti did not meet the requirement of Section 8 of the Political Parties Act, 2011 and the Constitution of Kenya.

This comes after the ODM Sectetary General (SG) Hon Edwin Sifuna pleaded with her office to reject the request to to reserve the names (ODM Asili, ODM Mpya and ODM Kamili) claiming it was being sponsored by forces in Dr Ruto’ s administration.

According to Nderitu, Section 8 (b), (c) of the Political Parties Act prohibits registration of parties with an abbreviation of another political outfit or nearly resembles the name or symbol.

This comes as the Azimio leader has claimed a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders is plotting to make Thursday’ s mass action chaotic almost similar to what was witnessed on Monday.

Speaking after meeting Kibra Nubi, the PCEA community and business leaders at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation offices in Nairobi, the former Prime Minister claimed that senior government officials are working hard holding secret meetings to paint Azimio protests in a bad light.

” They have been meeting and we know their every plan. They will also meet today (Wednesday) to plan but we have people inside the government who are keeping us updated on their moves, ” he said.

He further maintained that Thursday’ s mass action is still on and called on Azimio supporters to show up in large numbers for the protests.
