In the course of the bipartisan negotiations with Kenya Kwanza, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has designated Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni as the head of the legal and technical team.
Tuesday, August 8, at the SKM Command Centre in Karen, Nairobi, Raila said Kioni will back the Azimio delegation, which is being led by Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, with its technical and legal team.
“We have put in place a technical and legal to support our delegation to the dialogue, consequently, we have settled on Honorable Jeremiah Kioni, the secretary general of the Jubilee Party to head the legal and technical team to the talks,” said Raila.
He added, “We have tasked our delegation and technical teams under the able leadership of Kalonzo and Kioni to go to these talks with courage and open minds.”
The head of the opposition pointed out that the Azimio coalition is dedicated to using discussion to find a comprehensive solution to all of the nation’s issues.
Additionally, Raila urged the Kenya Kwanza government to stop propagandising against the opposition, claiming that it would not resolve any issues.
“Propaganda must now end because it has not solved our problems this past year and it won’t, in the coming year. Our people and the whole world are watching us, and we encourage them to watch us and to hold us to account,” the ODM leader added.
On Wednesday, August 9, at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, the new, bipartisan negotiations are scheduled to get underway.
The Azimio delegation participating in the negotiations is made up of Kalonzo, Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi, Opiyo Wandayi, Eugene Wamalwa, leader of the DAP Party, and Okong’o Omogeni, senator from Nyamira.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, EALA MP Hassan Omar, and Bungoma Women Rep Catherine Wambilianga will all represent the Kenya Kwanza side.
