The maid of honour of the late footballer Ezekiel Otuoma’s wife, Rachel, has stunned netizens with a video of her supporting the TikToker on the day she buried her husband.
Nelly Tietie was at Rachel’s side at her wedding, and the widowed TikToker constantly acknowledged the support she received from her best maid.
During her sick husband’s journey, Rachel noted how her maid of honour showed up for them and would sometimes help her take care of her ill spouse.
How Rache Otuoma’s best maid supported her
On the day she buried Otuoma, Rachel also bragged about choosing a great best maid, noting Nelly’s impact on her life.
However, Nelly posted a video of her walking behind Rachel on her TikTok page while mourners silently watched them.
When Rachel reached Otuoma’s casket, she stood in front of it and prayed, forcing the rest of the mourners to stand in her honour. While captioning the video, Nelly wrote:
“Nine years ago, I walked you down the aisle towards the humble, smiling Otuoma, and on this day, it was towards his casket. On this new phase, may God guide you, Rachel.”
How should bride pick best maid
Relationship coach Mary Nzisa said it is important for a bride to pick someone who can be easily accessible throughout, even after the wedding day.
“Traditionally people picked older women who are married to stand in as their maiden of honour. Some considered those given in church, but over time, many have resulted in having siblings, best friends, colleagues or relatives. However, it is important to get someone who can journey with you, support you, cry with you and give you counsel when in need or mourning like Rachel,” she said.
