A family in Mbeere South constituency, Embu county is demanding for justice and calling for the arrest of Secondary School Deputy Principal who was secretly living with their 23-year-old daughter before she died under mysterious circumstances.
The family of Doreen Nyakio, a fourth year student at the Meru National Polytechnic, said their daughter went missing in November, 2024. The search for Doreen ended in a tragic note after the family was informed that her body had been preserved at the Embu level 5 Hospital mortuary.
According to her father, he received a phone call on February 7, 2024 from a person who informed him that his daughter was admitted at the hospital and on arrival at the facility, he received the sad news of his daughter’s demise. The body had injuries on the head, a point that she died after being hit with a blunt object.
While at the hospital, the distraught father received a phone call from an unknown person who ordered him to report to Embu police station. Upon arrival at the station, Doreen’s father was introduced to a man who later took him and the police to his residence in Ngariama where he (the man) informed the father and police that he had been living with Doreen as a lovers. In the house, the police recovered the victim’s belongings including clothes, shoes and her National ID. A postmortem exercise revealed that the girl had died from a head injury.
The family is now crying for justice as the police promise to do thorough investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding Doreen’s death.
