Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni’s father Phillip Muriuki Ngari has passed away.’
His death was announced on Thursday by PS Muthoni, through her official social media handles.
She explained that her father had been ailing for some time and spent the last few months in hospital.
The Health PS said they later took the father home where he was on oxygen support before he passed on.
Muthoni explained that she got time to spend time with her father the day before his demise, not knowing it was their last moment together.
“I’m writing to share some sorrowful news. Some of you may recall that my father had been gravely ill and was in hospital for the last couple of months. We managed to bring him home, though he necessitated constant oxygen.
“I regret to inform, he has sadly passed away. Yesterday evening I spent some time with him, unaware that it would be my last occasion seeing him alive. May you rest in peace papa,” Muthoni said.
She, however, did not reveal what his father was ailing from.
Several leaders including Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, among others have sent their messages of condolence to the Health PS’s family, even as they come to terms with the death of their father.
