Professor Makau Mutua has strongly responded to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after the latter allegedly called him “gay” and a “fool” on social media.
This exchange started when Makau criticized Gachagua’s political approach, calling him “a political animal in its most elementary evolutionary stage.”
In retaliation, Gachagua reportedly tweeted about Makau’s sexuality, which he later deleted.
Makau did not hold back in his response. He first dismissed Gachagua’s remarks and pointed out that if he were indeed gay, Gachagua would not meet the standards to attract his affection.
Makau made it clear that his criticism of Gachagua had nothing to do with sexuality, and he questioned why Gachagua would bring up such an irrelevant issue.
The professor emphasized his long-standing belief in treating all people equally, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
He accused Gachagua of being a hypocrite, wondering why Gachagua was so obsessed with his sexuality.
According to Makau, Gachagua’s focus on this topic might mean that he either secretly harbors gay tendencies or is prejudiced against the LGBTQ+ community.
Makau also criticized Gachagua for frequently using the Bible, saying that his actions seemed driven by hatred.
He suggested that Gachagua should seek prayers for his troubled soul, as his current attitude did not align with Christian values of love and kindness.
The professor ended his response by challenging Gachagua to either answer the criticism or step away from national politics.
He called Gachagua’s leadership style outdated and lacking depth, suggesting that the former deputy president’s approach to leadership was no longer effective.
Makau also shared the deleted tweet from Gachagua, calling his actions cowardly and unbecoming of a leader.
This public exchange between the two prominent figures has sparked a lot of discussions online.
Many have criticized Gachagua for resorting to personal insults instead of addressing political issues, while others have praised Makau for standing firm in the face of such attacks.
