Today, reports have emerged that Dr William Ruto has made a new appointment on his goverment a year after taking over the presidency of this country from Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.

As reported by one source, the head of state has appointed Mrs Sophia Kutiti Olesambu as the new Chairperson of the Mineral Rights Board. Kutiti has been appointed to this position for a period of three years effective from today meaning that she will exit the office in 2026 if she will not get a re-appointment to the same position.

Sophia holds a Bachelor of Science (Geology) Degree from the University of Nairobi and is a certified member of the Geological Society of Kenya (GSK) and Association of Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK). She is also the founder and lead mentor for Mincel Mentorship, a program aimed at empowering the youth and women to take up spaces in the mining sector in Kenya.
