The judiciary, through the three Supreme Court judges, made a judgement about the 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries that President William Ruto nominated a few months ago this afternoon.

They ruled that the 50 justices were not appointed in accordance with the Kenyan constitution.

One of president William Ruto’s closest allies has now spoken out in response to this choice over the future action of the UDA government. This primary ally is Senator Cherargei of Nandi County, who also happens to be one of President William Ruto’s close pals.

Cherargei indicated that they would be appealing this choice, as can be seen from his tweet. Cherargei asserted that the judgment was proof of the harshness of the legal system. He asserted that they still made this choice despite adding an additional $4 billion to the budget for 2023–2024. The ruling made today means that the 50 CASs will not operate from their offices.

The judiciary acted arbitrarily when it ruled that the creation of CASs seats was unconstitutional without considering the merits of the case.According to Mr Cherargei, despite receiving an additional 4 billion dollars in FY 2023–2024 beyond its normal budget, corruption and the backlog of cases have remained.
