President William Ruto has been given advice on how to quell demonstrations without confronting Mr. Odinga directly, hours after pledging to deal with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition over their mass action proposal.

Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna said that before calling Raila Odinga to end mass protests, Ruto must first get the consent of the general populace, as reported in a report that appeared on Saturday’s Standard.

“The next time Ruto wants us to end protests, he must first seek the people’s approval,” remarked Edwin Sifuna.

When Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition is being urged by President William Ruto’s camp to hold bipartisan talks rather than protest, Sifuna makes his statement.

As a result, the Azimio la Umoja team’s demand that Hon. Adan Kaynan be removed from Kenya Kwanza’s negotiation committee was accepted by Ruto’s cabinet. Hon. Adan Kaynan is a member of the Eldas party.

The leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, Raila Odinga, and his co-principals, however, insisted that despite threats from president William Ruto, their mass action rallies will take place as scheduled on May 2.

He told us to restart our demonstrations on Tuesday, and that is exactly what we will do, according to Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya party. “We do what our leaders say,” she added.

Finally, do you agree with Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna that Ruto should first ask the public for their consent before advising Raila Odinga to halt mass protests?
