President William Ruto isn’t stopping for anyone when it comes to the collection of taxes by the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) as he seeks to liberate Kenya from the shackles of debt. President Ruto in his directive to Kenyans at the beginning of the year, begged everyone to pay his/her taxes on time to help the government render it’s services on time and effectively.

However, there seems to be a deliberate disguise to President William Ruto’s directive as he today issued new directives to KRA on the manner they were collecting revenue from Kenyans and their businesses. According to President William Ruto, he emphasized that it was time for his administration through the treasury to review tax collections and returns.

President Ruto said that he believes that there are some taxes his administration was going to reduce in the coming budget since it encouraged non-compliance and even dodging to pay by some businesses and individuals. This verbal directive by the president comes at a time when the country is struggling to pay it’s civil servants and the budging foreign debt.

” I have instructed the Treasury to have a tax review. There are some taxes we certainly are going to reduce in the coming budget because some of the taxes are punitive and they actually encourage more dodging than compliance”. Said the President.
