A month after the New Life Church Leader Pastor Ezekiel Odero was released on a Sh1.5 million cash bail after the court found that there was no compelling reason to detain him, he has spoken about his arrest.
The Celebrated televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero spoke after setting ground for construction of a branch of his New Life Church in Bonchari, Kisii county
Ezekiel also led a church service which was flocked by hundreds of congregants who filled the whole building.
The preacher of New Life Church and Prayer Centre said he had already spent one week in police cell at Port Police.
According to media reports, the new branch is headed by Pastor Ezekiel’s younger brother named Gillack Odero.
The Kisii congregants all thanked God for allowing the release of their preacher who had been behind bars for close to two weeks.
Ezekiel also took a moment to thank his wife for standing by him and for being strong throughout.
Odero graced the occasion where he dedicated the ground for the construction of a mega church which will be managed by his brother Gillack Odero.
Prosecutors accuse Odero of links to cult leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, who is in custody facing terrorism charges over the deaths of more than 100 people, many of them children, in what has been dubbed the “Shakahola forest massacre”.
The Mosocho branch will occupy over 13 acres of land after neighbouring owners of the land in the area agreed to merge and sell it to the church.
Odero revealed to the congregants that since he was arrested, his spouse hasn’t slept and has been praying for his release, and he thanked God for her as his followers clapped and cheered them on.
