It is the end of an era for one of the most seasoned Kenya Army generals after leaving his top job as the Kenya Military Academy Commandant.

Major General Alphaxard Muthuri Kiugu took over as Kenya Military Academy Commandant a few months ago, succeeding Major General John Nkoimo who was redeployed.

A one-time force commander of the East Africa Community Regional Force in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Major General Kiugu at one point served as the assistant chief of defence forces in-charge of logistics and personnel.

In a colorful handover ceremony held recently, Major General Kiugu handed the mantle of the KMA to chief instructor, Brigadier Peter Muthama.
