It was pop and colour as former DP Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa joined Martha Karua in unveiling her new rebranded party on Thursday in Nairobi.

Karua officially unveiled the rebranded People’s Liberation Party at the party’s office in Nairobi. The party, formerly known as Narc Kenya, has changed its colors from red and green to purple, while retaining its iconic flower, now also in purple.

The event attracted several top political leaders, signaling a major political realignment.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a surprise appearance, joining Eugene Wamalwa and Kalonzo Musyoka in what is shaping up to be a strong opposition front against President William Ruto.

All the invited leaders wore part of purple outfits in solidarity with the newly branded party.

“This is a meeting of friendship, and we have let bygones be bygones. We pledged to work together for Kenyans with other leaders from different parts of the country,” stated one of the LP officials.

Her newfound alliance with Rigathi Gachagua surprised many, given their previous political differences. However, Karua clarified that the unity is for the greater good of Kenyans.

“Riggy G is a Kenyan, he is my brother, just like Ruto is my brother and Raila is my brother. While we have parted politically in the past, at this moment, we are standing in the same place with Riggy G and other leaders, determined to relieve Kenyans of the pain on their backs. To that extent, we are allies,” Karua said in a recent Citizen TV interview.

The event is expected to culminate in a powerful political declaration, with calls for a united front against Ruto’s government taking center stage. With Karua, Gachagua, Wamalwa, and Kalonzo in one room, speculation is already rising about a mega coalition that could challenge Kenya Kwanza in the next elections.

Karua, Kalonzo and Gachagua are expected to announce their political coalition once Gachagua unveils his new party in May this year. Their coalition is expected to face off with Ruto and Raila, who are also set to announce their working pact in the coming weeks.
