A wanted gangster was killed in a shootout with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Kasarani, Nairobi.
Duncan Ochieng Ndinya, who is said to have been part of a gang behind robberies in various parts of the country, was shot dead in an incident that left four officers with severe gunshot wounds. A gunfire exchange ensued moments after the officers raided the suspect’s house on Sunday night. Police said the thug used his girlfriend and two young children as a human shield as he shot at the officers. Ndinya shot and injured the officers before he was fatally wounded.
The officers were taken to hospital where one of them, Police Constable Andrew Nyakundi, died while receiving treatment.
Ndinya’s 19-year-old girlfriend has landed in trouble for failing to report him to the police that he was a hardcore criminal.
Yvonne Muthoni is accused of receiving money and airtime for different mobile telecommunication companies from her boyfriend and his accomplices so as not to report them to the authorities.
While appearing in court, Muthoni said she met Ndinya at a bhang den in Dandora estate, Nairobi in 2020.
