Police at Kitale police station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a patron at a Kitale club yesterday on Friday.
County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Mr. Francis Kihara confirmed to Kenya News Agency (KNA) that a Mr. James Abdi Karrim, aged 34 years, was found to have died inside Club Touch.
According to the club Manager Mr. Brian Siambe, the deceased had walked into the bar while already drunk at around 2 am but did not order any refreshments.
“He instead sat on a couch where he stretched out and it was assumed to be sleeping,” said Siambe.
Siambe added workers at the club got concerned when Karrim failed to wake up and leave the premise even after all other revellers had left by 3 am.
“We raised the alarm before security officers from Kitale Police Station arrived and confirmed he had passed on,” said the club manager.
According to Kihara, preliminary investigations indicated the body had no visible injury.
“The crime scene officers learnt from the deceased’s sister, Ms. Fardosa Ali who was at the scene that he had a history of asthma attacks,” added Kihara.
The body was removed to Trans Nzoia Sub County Hospital for a post-mortem examination
The CCIO assured the family and members of the public thorough investigations will be conducted to establish the exact cause of the death, which has caused a wave of panic in the club.
