Some few minutes ago, reports emerged that National Police Service, NPS has come out to issue an official statement concerning the alleged raid at governor Simba Arati’s office in Kisii today in the morning.

As reported by the NTV, NPS through the Kisii county police commander has denied this alleged raid. According to NTV, Charles Omuse who spoke to them via a phone said that the reason for the GSU presence at Arati’s office is that the officers had decided to take a rest at Gusii stadium which is a public place after series of patrols in Kisii town. He went ahead to say that he is unaware of Silvanus Osoro’s claims that more police officers will be deployed in Kisii county.

“Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases has denied the raid on Governor Simba Arati’s office at Gusii Stadium on Monday morning. In a telephone interview with the Nation, Mr Kases said GSU officers were patrolling the area and decided to rest at the stadium. He denied that a raid had taken place, arguing that the stadium was a public place and that it was not unusual for officers to patrol the town, saying they had a right to be anywhere.” Says the report.
