Police acting on intelligence leads have arrested 4 men suspected to be drug traffickers. According to DCI, the suspects ibril Ali Noor, (driver aged 38), Mohammed Abdikadir Mohammud,30(car owner), Adan Ali Abdullahi, 21 and Idow Abdirahaman Adow, 70 were cornered in Wajir North on Friday.

A 1p0 kg pack containing Marijuana was seized from their vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser bearing registration number KAE 514G. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were making their way back home having distributed more bales around the County.

The suspected traffickers were detained at Bute Police Station pending processing and arraignment on Monday, February 17.

The arrest comes after President William Ruto’s tour of the North Eastern region, where he sent a stern warning to drug peddlers in the region. Ruto expressed concern that counties in the North Eastern region were experiencing increased drug trafficking.

Ruto said counties such as Isiolo and Marsabit had been transit routes for trafficking hard drugs especially bhang from neigbouring Ethiopia and vowed to deal with the drug menace, putting the traffickers on notice.
