Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has come to Senator Edwin Sifuna’s rescue following an online onslaught conducted on him.

For the better part of yesterday, senator Edwin Sifuna has been trending but this time round, for all the wrong reasons.

This is after the senator posted a photo of him having a good time while a bottle of alcohol, tusker brand, was on the table.

Sifuna revealed that he had found ugali in London which made him happy since it his favourite meal, especially having come from Western Kenya where the meal is a staple food in majority of households.

He then ordered for tusker lite, which was not there, so he had to contend with whatever the flavour he found.

“Ugali imepatikana London…tena inakorogwa na mluhyia wa Busia kutoka pale tu Funyula. Tusker Lite ndio hawana lakini ile iko ndio tutatumia bora ni yetu,” which loosely translates to, “I have found cornmeal in London. Plus it has been prepared by a luhya from Funyula in Busia. They did not have tusker lite, though we will just contend with what is available, so long as it is ours,” he wrote.

However, Kenyans were not happy with Sifuna’s action. They wondered why he would post a photo of himself while drinking alcohol. According to those who condemned him, as a leader, it is wrong for him to do that since he is a role model to many.

However, the flamboyant politician Mike Sonko was of a different opinion. According to him, life is too short to be serious all the time. He even advised Sifuna and his allies to take Raila Odinga to a massage parlour so that he can be massaged by white masseuse.

“Life is too short pigeni sherehe kabisa. Hii siasa ni buree kabisa ingekuwa ni Sonkoree anapiga tuskeree weeeh! Mukimaliza Kenya Kitchen pelekeni Baba pale oxford street apigwe massagree na madem wazungu arelax,” loosely translates to, “Life is too short, enjoy yourselves to the fullest. This politics is so useless, had it been Sonko enjoying himself… When you finish, with Kenya Kitchen take Baba to Oxford Street to get a massage from white lady masseuse.

Sifuna, along other leaders, had accompanied Raila Odinga to London where he delivered a keynote address in Oxford University.

“I thank @oxfordafrica for hosting me today to give a keynote speech on Charting Africa’s Path Forward: A Journey of Possibilities.”

“I am an African and an afro-optimist. Africa is my business. Simply put, the animating vision throughout my life has been #AfricanLivesMatter,” Raila said in a statement after the event.
