The story of Jeff Mwathi who was working as an interior designer died in unclear circumstances while at the house of Kikuyu mugithi star, DJ Fatxo, where he had gone to do some interior design works.
According to the statement recorded to police, Jeff is alleged to have died after commiting suicide by throwing himself from DJ Fatxo’s house which is situated at the 10th floor of an apartment along Thika road.
However, many Kenyans have casted their doubts on this death after it was revealed that Mwathi’s body was found lying with the pants removed below the knees. The window where Jeff is alleged to have jumped from contains a small space, nearly impossible for human to fit, and this has brought about even more questions.
After public outcry with Kenyans pushing a hashtag #JusticeForJeff, the interior security cabinet secretary, Kithure Kindiki, directed DCI officers from the homicide department to investigate the matter so that the family of Jeff can get justice.
A few moments following Kindiki’s directive, homicide sleuths from the DCI headquarters arrived at DJ Fatxo’s apartment to carry out investigations and establish what really caused the death of Jeff Mwathi.
A photo of the DCI officers interrogating the Mugithi star then surfaced online, eliciting mixed reactions from netizens.
The musician is seen standing on the basement of the apartment with the officers. On his hands, shiny objects can be noticed with some netizens claiming to be handcuffs while others argue that it is normal bracelets.
