Paul Muite
Senior Counsel Paul Muite has raised alarm over the disappearance of blogger Maverick Aoko, demanding her immediate release or legal action against her if necessary.
Aoko has reportedly been missing for nearly a week, sparking concerns over her safety.
In a post on X, Muite cited key constitutional provisions, emphasizing that Aoko’s fundamental rights must be respected.
“Right to Life, Article 26; Human Dignity, 28; Arrested Person, 49—Critical Constitutional Rights. Accord M. Aoko these rights,” he wrote.
He called for transparency, stating that the country must not allow forced disappearances, torture, or extrajudicial executions to become normalized.
Muite’s post comes amid growing concerns about Aoko’s whereabouts. Reports indicate that two weeks ago, Aoko found her home broken into and had expressed fear for her safety.
Her aide, speaking through her social media account, disclosed that strange individuals had been seen inquiring about Aoko’s whereabouts.
Aoko had also recently given an interview to AFP, discussing threats she faced following her previous arrest.
After sharing a post about an unnamed political figure, Aoko went silent, raising suspicion among family and friends. Her aide revealed that police had previously warned her lawyers, stating, “We are coming for her,” further deepening fears about her situation.

Muite demanded that Aoko be released or formally charged in court, emphasizing the importance of due process.
“Free Aoko or charge her in a Court of law,” Paul Muite demanded.
The case has drawn attention to broader concerns about human rights and the use of extrajudicial measures in Kenya, with many calling for an end to such practices.
