Communications expert, Patience Nyange has landed another state appointment days after she was announced as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) spokesperson.
In a special gazette notice dated March 25, Nyange has been appointed a member of the Communications and Multimedia Appeals Tribunal.
She will serve in the Appeals Tribunal for the next three years.
Nyange has been appointed alongside six other members, including Rosemary Wacera Kuria who will be the Tribunal’s chairperson.
The mandate began on March 22, 2024.
Nyange’s appointment come barely a week after IGAD announced that it tapped on her expertise to further strengthen its communication across the globe.
As its new Spokesperson, Nyange will serve under the Office of the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu. She took up her new role in March 2024.

Before joining IGAD, Nyange worked as the Executive Director of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK).
Nyange left in January 2024, slightly over a year since her appointment to the AMWIK role on November 15, 2022.
She has previously served as a Board Member of the Media Council of Kenya, as Assistant Director at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and as a Communication advisor at the Ministry of Devolution and Planning.
Nyange has also been an Associate Broadcast mentor with BBC Media Action, a Journalist with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), as well as a presenter and producer at Baraka FM.
