Police in Mombasa have unveiled new details showing how pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Church worked closely together in the killing spree of innocent followers before dumping them in Shakahola forest. The forest is said to be owned by Paul Mackenzie, who was also arrested for cultism.
According to a police report read at Shanzu Law Court today in the morning during the mention of Odero’s case, the embattled man of God allegedly collaborated with his accomplice, Mackenzie, to secretly bury dead followers at Shakahola. Pastor Odero also accepted the allegations of paying Kshs. 3,000,0000 to Mr. Mackenzie for the purchase of his TV channels, which he used for preaching and recruiting followers.
“I accept the allegation of buying a TV channel from my friend and pastor, Paul. He made a selling request before me, and I willingly decided to buy it for preaching the gospel,” pastor Odero told Shanzu Court, as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Yamina Jami, senior prosecutor, told the court that there is evidence of hundreds of bodies being transported from Odero’s church in Mavueni to Shakahola Forest. The prosecutor further affirmed that the reported cases occurred within a period of one year, from 2022 to 2023.
