Police in Ruiru area of Kiambu County are detaining a suspect in links with the killing of a 35-year-old lady last month.
50-year-old Christopher Kiptum Keter was nabbed at his hideout in Embakasi’s Mukuru kwa Njenga slums on Tuesday, March 7.
He had been hiding since February 8, 2023, after allegedly strangling Christine Makena Maingi to death.
Police said that Kiptum who is a church pastor was the last man who was seen with the lady.
CCTV recordings and mobile phone communications seen by DCI officers revealed that the duo were together on the fateful night of February 5th and 6th before the lifeless body of Makena was found few days later in a house in Gathogora area within Ruiru Sub-County.
At the scene of the crime, drugs were also found giving the probators an initial impression that the lady ended her own life through overdose.
However, postmortem done on the body of the woman showed that she succumbed to forced strangulation dismissing suicide reports.
The suspect is in police cell pending his arraignment on Thursday for the offense of murder contrary to section 203 of the penal code.
Makena was buried on 18th February in Meru County.
