Just like that, it has been an year since Kenya reported it’s first Covid-19 case and the country has never been the same again.
Kamene recounts how sweet life was and how she and every other Kenyan has been forced to make re-adjustments to adjust to the new normal.
“It has been one year since our lives took a 100% turn around then everything went left at that moment. It has been a whole year and there have been hard adjustments we have been forced to make. Do you think we are going back to normal and is there a normal to go back to?” Kamene asked.
Jalang’o reasons that whether the president extends the curfew for 80 more days or even more there is nothing much to expect.
“Truth is this is the new normal and it is definitely from 5am to 8pm when businesses start closing. Bars and eateries are closed by 9pm and don’t forget there are no travelling at night.” Said Jalang’o.
Here are reactions we got from Kenyans;
I would say it is so hard. Somebody like me I work in the hospitality industry and I was cut off and I started to clean people’s businesses. Here I was a parent with kids to look for earning a minimum wage. Ukishindwa ku provide mnaanza kukosana and Eastlando watu kurushwa nje ni the new normal.
