The family of two brothers is demanding justice after the duo was reportedly shot dead at close range by police.

Bonventure Ounza Olumbe and Calistus Apwoka, from Jordan village in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County were killed by two police officers over unknown reasons.

On the fateful morning, the two brothers, casual labourers at a local company, were heading to work when they met their tragic deaths.

They left their house at around 3am and at 3.20am, they were gunned down by the officers who had engaged them for about 20minutes. While they surrendered by kneeling down and carrying up their hands, the officers did not hear their plea including a request that they take them to the company for identification. Unfortunately, the police shot the two killing them on the spot.

Hon Nabii Nabwera, Lugari Constituency MP, has since asked the government to conduct a thorough investigation and arrest the officers who killed the duo so that the family could get justice.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has called for public calmness and restraint as it undertakes thorough investigations into the matter.
