Raila Odinga is coming close to winning the African Union chairmanship elections next month but he faces a stiff competition from Djibouti’s candidate Mahmoud Yousouff who is also garnering a lot of support.
Latest reports have revealed that as of Tuesday Raila only had 12 votes remaining to win the elections. Raila is currently finalizing his campaigns and he hopes to get the support of the 12 remaining nations before the elections come.
For a candidate to win the elections he is supposed to garner two thirds of the 55 countries. This translates to 33 countries. There is however another challenge as not all the countries that have promised to vote for him will do so. Nothing bounds their support to the promises they made to Raila during his visits.
Mahmoud Yousouff is also confident that he will win the elections and recently he revealed having received a lot of support from presidents.
