Former NTV news anchor Winnie Mukami was known to many as a gentle and beautiful soul.
In 2018 she was appointed into the role of National Director of the Kenya Pipeline.
Thanking the president she wrote on her socials,
“THANK YOU H.E. PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA FOR HAVING TRUST AND FAITH IN ME. FOR APPOINTING ME AS THE NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF THE KENYA PIPELINE.
GOD BLESS YOU.”
Winnie was known to be champion for women and celebrating them. When Winnie Madela died, she penned a moving letter lauding the illustrious life that the South African icon had.

Winne wrote, “A 40year old deposited a Revolutionary Responsibility into a 22yr old impressionable Winnie Mandikzela. She bore that National/International burden the best way she knew how. Though Inexperienced she Steadfastly faught in the spirit of her Mentor and Husband.”
Adding,
“NATURALLY SHE MADE MISTAKES AFTER ALL SHE WAS JUST AN EXTENSION OF THE ACTUAL DREAM BEARER AT THE BEGINNING. NOTHING HAD PREPARED WINNIE FOR THE PSYCOLOGICAL, EMOTIONAL OR PHYSICAL CHALLENGES THAT CAME WITH BEARING THE VISION OF THE ICONIC MAN ( NELSON MANDELA) AND INDEED OF THE ENTIRE NATION.”

WINNIE CONTINUED, “IN THE 27YRS THAT MANDELA WAS IN PRISON; SOME TOUGH LESSONS CHANGED WINNIE’S IDEALISTIC YOUNG NATURE , OTHER LESSONS MADE HER STRONGER AND PERHAPS OTHERS BROKE HER, BUT HER RESILIENCE TO THE CAUSE AS SHARED TO HER BY HER BELOVED HUSBAND; REMAINED TRUE TO HER DYING DAY.”
She noted,
“IN THE ARENA OF LIFE THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CRITIQUES, FANATICS AND ALOOF SPECTATORS; WINNIE MANDELA HAD THEM ALL IN EQUAL MEASURE. RIP NAMESAKE.”
