Renowned Genge rapper Nonini has taken to his Instagram account to hit out at legendary producer Clemmo after he claimed that he deserves a share of the money he was awarded by the court after he won a case against brand influencer Brian Mutinda for using his song ” Wee Kamu” without his consent. Appearing in an interview on SPM Buzz, Clemmo claimed that he also own rights to the song since he was the producer.
He further alleged that he had a gentleman’s agreement with Nonini, where they agreed that he was supposed to get rights to the song. However, Nonini did not honour the promise.
”That song is my song. I produced it and so, I own the rights. Did you hear like I was recognized anywhere after he won the suit?” Clemmo posed. Clemmo said that producers should be respected and recognized, adding that he is concerned because his son is also an upcoming producer.
However, his remarks did not go well with Nonini. The self-proclaimed ‘ God Father of Genge’ lamented that he used his personal resources to pursue the case and told Clemmo if he feels that his rights were infringed, he can also go to the court and file a suit.
”If you feel your rights were infringed, you are at liberty to open a suit against the the 2( the influencer and the company” he wrote. He further told Clemmo to stop being emotional and use the legal channels to adress his issues.
Last month, Nonini was awarded Ksh 1 Million after he won a a copyright infringement case against online influencer Brian Mutinda after he used his song to advertise a manufacturing company.
