Kenyan hip hop recording artiste, entertainer, and businessman, Hubert Nakitare aka Nonini, is often regarded as the Godfather of Genge.
Lately, Nonini has been in the US seeking green pastures for his music and luxury wear brand, the Mgenge2Ru merchandise.
This comes a few weeks after Nonini launched his Mgenge2Ru apparel, which is gaining ground in the US.
“I have created products, some of which target clients back at home and others that are specifically targeting the US market. The US is a lucrative market because their economy is thriving and that is why my products are in high demand,” Nonini said in an earlier interview. A pair of his limited edition leather shoes have been going for about Sh24,000.
Nonini got to hang out with the who’s who of hip-hop during the stacked ‘Legendz of the Streetz” tour in Royal Farms Arena, Baltimore.
“In an effort to expand my brand into the American Market I was invited by Young Jeezy Team all access backstage VIP pass to hang out will all the celebrities. We were with Lil kim, Fabulous, 2chainz, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, among others but of course I was under the master Young Jeezy team.”
“I was honored to watch him perform from the Royal Farms Arena main stage. All the efforts are to network and push my brand further. My fans should wait for the surprises loading,” he says.
Entertainers and majorly rappers are known for flaunting expensive stuff while leading the soft life, a factor that Nonini is capitalising on.
“You can tell from the cars and jewelry they wear definitely it’s the soft Life. But one thing that got my eye. They all have defined brands just like #Mgenge2ru brand that makes each one stand out form stage visuals to merchandise,” he says.
Although he admits it was not easy getting to Young Jeezy, his team pulled some ropes, and finally, it came to fruition.
“They have their different teams in terms of entourage and security. They roll deep with about 10-15 guys it’s not easy to reach them but if you find yourself hanging around them like I did it’s special. It means they embrace you and Young Jeezy is very humble. His team extremely professional,” the elated entertainer says. ?
