Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has broken his silence with the details of his recent meeting with President William Ruto in State House, Mombasa.
The meeting between the two politicians took place in Mombasa couple of weeks ago, just days after the former Prime Minister and Kenya lost an opportunity to lead the African Union Commission.
Speaking inside KICC during the signing of the memorandum of understanding between ODM party and Kenya Kwanza coalition, Mr Odinga stated he met Ruto in Mombasa to thank him for supporting his candidature.
Mr Odinga also claimed that upon arriving in State House in Mombasa, he was ambushed by politicians from both sides of the divide who gave him some documents to sign.
Odinga has claimed that he declined the request to sign the document and instead requested Ruto to give him time to consult his people on the way foward.
He added that it is for that reason moved to different counties in a span of two weeks to consult his supporters before he finally agreed to sign the documents today.
“When I arrived in Mombasa I found a team of leaders from ODM and UDA waiting for me with some documents to sign. I refused to sign documents and I told Ruto that I had to consult with my people.
“So I went to Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Busia, Coast, Kisii, Narok and now I am back today to sign the documents. That is what we call random sampling.” He said
