A public comment by gospel musician Muigai wa Njoroge at the funeral of Muhiko Nebster that he hadn’t seen his first wife Njeri in a long time got tongues wagging. That was in October when Njeri shed tears.

In a new interview, Njeri denies crying over her husband’s comments, insisting that she was sad about their kids. She spoke to Jeff Kuria on his show.

“There was nothing big there. And I don’t see any mistake, it’s just social media exaggerating things, ati I cried over his comments. Even if he hasn’t seen me in a long time, I have no problem with his comments. Why should I cry about something I am aware about? I know he hasn’t seen me in a while, why should I break down in public? Si he has another woman?”

Her reason for the tears? “No, I was crying because reality hit me…the death.”

She added that this resulted in many men coming to her DM to console her and offer a shoulder to cry on. Kuria then asked her if she was happy,

“Very I’m happy like a Hyena. Why should I be upset he was spotted somewhere with someone? I don’t check online gossip. I don’t see the need to. Why would I?”

She advised women to keep off their man’s phone, adding it was a lesson she learnt.

“That is torture. Why would you snoop on his phone, what are you hoping for? Even President Ruto warned Kenyans.”

Njeri cautioned women with such behaviour, “Leave that man’s phone alone, it’s dangerous, he is human and why wouldn’t you expect that there will be a message from a girl greeting him?”

She said those girls have no shame and will text their man endlessly even if he doesn’t encourage that behavior

“They have no shame, ‘Hi babe,’ and you have never spoken to her. Then your wife comes to snoop. She will be depressed. Leave the phone. I left that habit. Women still do that…” she told Jeff.

She added that she too had many messages from men wanting to spend a good time with her.

“Even men should leave their wife’s phones alone because there are men out there after us. Jeff, if I open my phone right now, you will see the messages. As a man, you will be depressed.”

She added that these men were messaging but pointed out that it was not her fault for encouraging them with their advances.

“And these men, some know my husband. They have no shame. So you see? The you decide to go through my phone?”

She hinted there are countless messages. “I respond to only important messages. If they compliment me that I am beautiful, I only thank them. ‘Thank you so much, it’s God’.”

Njeri has a new program she has begun called Woman of Courage Ministry.
