Since she hit the limelight, Nikita has risen fast. Earlier today, Apple music announced Nikita as the latest feature artiste in their Africa Rising artist development program. She is the first East African artist to be featured.
Nikita took to her social media handles celebrating what she termed as no mean fete. “I’m so honored to be the first Africa Rising artist by @AppleMusic in East Africa,” she said.
The 19-year old keeps making history musically since she tossed herself in the industry. As the youngest ever nominee, winner and performer at The All-Africa Music Awards in Lagos, Nikita’s noteworthy accolades include winning New Artiste of the Year during the fourth annual Pulse Music Video Awards (2018) being named Afrima Revelation of the African Continent (2019), Afrima Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa (2019), as well as being included in Mr Eazi’s Empawa Africa Top 10 artist program.
The teen star recently released her debut 7-track EP ‘A Side of Me’ EP. Many have argued that her EP is a masterpiece as she brings relatable situations, experiences and stories, creatively coming up with a body of work that people could identify with.
Apple Music also announced a special Africa Rising radio show on Apple Music 1, which will highlight the next generation of African musicians who are revolutionising the music scene and innovating their sounds to lead a new wave of emerging genres.
The show will feature Nikita Kering, Nigeria’s Afro-fusion singer-songwriter, Buju and South Africa’s, Aymos , Nigeria’s Ayra Starr and Savage, Ghana’s Gyakie and Yaw Tog, South Africa’s Hunter Rose and NVMI, Côte d’Ivoire’s Chrystel and Kenya’s Chris Kaiga.?
