By reducing production costs, the Kenya Kwanza government vowed to cut the cost of living. It is clear that big retailers and shops, like Naivas, have decreased the pricing of necessities like unga and cooking oil as Kenyans continue to observe Mashujaa Day.
Unga is presently being sold at an average price of ksh 160 instead of its previous stable price of just over ksh 200. According to a post from Mwago wa Mugikuyu’s official Facebook fan page that this writer saw, Naivas supermarket would keep its pricing low because they are already lower in other regions of the nation.
Cooking oil is now available for an average retail price of Ksh 4000 for a 20-liter jerrican. The price of goods has never before reached Ksh 200 a liter in the major stores.
