Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has made a bold claim, stating that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will resign from his position once the ongoing impeachment motion against him is quashed.

Havi, who is representing Gachagua’s legal team, expressed confidence that the case will be dismissed, calling it politically motivated and lacking merit.

Havi asserted, “Gachagua is ready to step down, but only after the court proves his innocence by quashing the baseless impeachment. He does not want to hold onto power under a cloud of accusations.”

The impeachment motion, which has gained traction among some opposition leaders, accuses Gachagua of misuse of office and corruption.

However, his legal team maintains that the allegations are part of a broader scheme to weaken Mt. Kenya’s political influence in the government.

Havi emphasized that Gachagua’s resignation would be a show of integrity rather than an admission of guilt.

“He believes in the rule of law and will let the court process play out before making any decisions,” Havi concluded.
