Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be impeached by the Senate, it was decided after a two-day process that involved hours of cross-examination and voluminous material.

Gachagua was removed from office after senators voted in favor of five of the eleven reasons that were put out for his dismissal. Gachagua is now being treated at Karen Hospital.

Out of the 54 senators that voted, only 13 voted against the first count of gross violation of Articles 10, 27, 73, 75, and 129 of the Constitution.

Ndegwa Njiru has said that Kenyans should be ready to vote out the current President and all his minions out of office.

Gachagua became unwell in the afternoon due to severe chest problems, and he is currently receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital.

His legal team, under the direction of Senior Counsel Paul Muite, tried to convince the House to move the impeachment hearing to Tuesday of next week, but the Senators rejected their plea and decided to move on with the process anyhow.

The decision to leave the House and claim that they could not continue with the hearing without orders from their client did not sit well with Gachagua’s legal team.

There was a heated debate before the vote, with some senators saying it was wrong to deny Gachagua an opportunity to present his case. Senators from Central Kenya threatened to take drastic measures if “their son” was mistreated.
