You’ve probably heard of Esther Akoth, better known by her nickname, Akothee, if you spend much time on social media. Akothee, a Kenyan bongo musician and social media star, is too level-headed to let doubters shake her confidence. She has a reputation for always telling it like it is. She is one of the few Kenyan superstars who rose to prominence by sheer grit and perseverance. Her varied work with musicians from throughout the world has kept her in the public eye for nearly twenty years.
Just a few minutes ago, she made a Facebook post about the problems with her bank account. In her letter, she questioned the reliability of financial institutions. She has been working with the same well regarded bank for many years, and they are currently processing two cases for her.
She admitted that she is the type of consumer who does not read bank statements, and that her naiveté led her to believe that the persons she dealt with were experts up until the point at which her account was compromised. She emphasised that this case has been ongoing for months, and the bank has failed to accept responsibility. She also claimed that a large sum of money was withdrawn from her ATM account at a later time. She claims to have never withdrawn more than $30,000 from an ATM.
She continued by saying that she would be required to visit the bank on Monday if the bank did not provide her with a satisfactory response by then. She has threatened to send her squad to collect the money by force if she does not receive it back.
