A sombre atmosphere grips a family in Saika, Nairobi, as they mourn the tragic death of Conrad Nyabuto, who was brutally murdered by his estranged girlfriend on December 17.

The incident occurred at her Kamakis residence, where Nyabuto had gone to discuss their deteriorating relationship.

Nyabuto succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed 27 times, an act the family strongly believes goes beyond self-defence.

The shocking number of wounds has led the family to suspect deeper foul play, casting doubts on the girlfriend’s claims of acting in self-preservation.

Adding to the family’s anguish, the girlfriend reportedly refused to cooperate with the police, locking herself inside the house after the crime.

Officers spent two hours breaking down the metallic door, only to find Nyabuto lifeless, having bled to death.

The girlfriend was discovered nearby, her wrists slit in an apparent suicide attempt.

The delayed access to the scene not only prevented potential life-saving interventions but also firmly placed her as the prime suspect.Photo|Courtesy

While she is now in police custody, the family is frustrated by the slow pace of justice, suspecting interference in the investigation.

Nyabuto’s father lamented the lack of progress, highlighting their concern that powerful individuals might be influencing the case.

Despite their son’s loss, the family hopes justice will bring some solace to his siblings and loved ones.

The girlfriend is set to appear at Thika High Court on Thursday to answer to charges related to Nyabuto’s murder.

As the legal process unfolds, the family continues to call for accountability and an impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.
