The common adage that education is the key to success does not make sense to a brilliant man from Dagoretti anymore.
Muuru.
Scored B+ at Upperhill High School
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, John Muuru said his single mum, identified as Jane Supuu, had done everything to give him a good education, but it wasn’t paying off.
“I studied at New Highlight Primary School in Dagoretti and scored 394 marks in Kenya Certificate of primary Education (KCPE); I then proceeded to Upperhill High School where I scored a B+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams,” he revealed about his education.
“Kenyatta University called me to study Agricultural Resource Management and four years later, I graduated with flying colours,” continued the proud alumnus.
Although he has left a trail of brilliant academic credentials, Muuru is still struggling to find a job, just like millions of other clever Kenyans.
“The struggle to get employed is real and during the COVID-19 times, my mum, a Mugithi artiste, was suddenly left jobless because of the lockdown,” he said.

Muuru starts venture for making yoghurt
“I thought of utilising my education and started a smaĺl agro-processing unit in my mum’s kitchen where I process raw milk and make yoghurt for sale. Currently, I’m still applying for jobs but since I know the struggles of tarmacking, Iam still open to being an employer,” he said.
Although it would be great to get a job, Muuru is also open to having a thriving business and creating opportunities for his fellow youth; he hopes to own a company since he boasts value addition skills.
“The yoghurt business is profitable even if I’m doing it on a small scale just to sustain myself. It gives 100% profit thus falling under value addition. I would like to go big because it will create opportunities for others,” he shared.
“I also charge KSh 5000 for processing lessons,” he added.
Graduate who’s tarmacked for 8 years appeals for job
In another story, Dorothy Oyuko Juma resorted to asking for a job on Facebook after failing to get a job for eight years.
Dorothy studied for a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) at Kenyatta University after scoring an impressive A- at Koru Girls Secondary School.
The mum of one told TUKO.co.ke that she can work at research institutes, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), food processing companies and firms that deal with chemicals.
