Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into an incident which a businessman allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself using his licensed firearm while inside his locked car.
According to reports, the tycoon left his home and drove himself to Sun Valley Estate in Langata, parked his Toyota Prado car by the roadside before he fatally shot himself in the head.
Residents in the vicinity of Sun Valley were alerted by the sound of gunshots ringing out in the air from the car and rushed to the scene only to find the lifeless body on the driver’s seat.
Sources indicate that prior to his death, the deceased reportedly sent a text message to his wife, saying “Sun Valley”.
Confirming the incident, area police boss said the businessman did not give the reason for ending his life, but only sent a message to his wife disclosing his current location.
Police said they were still trying to establish why the businessman took his own life. The police have assured that they will provide a detailed report after further investigations.
The scene of crime was processed and the body moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The police boss urged people to open up and share their problems instead of resorting to suicide. We have to share problems when faced with challenges in the society.
