The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) on Wednesday listed a number of estates that will go without water from Thursday, 30 September 2021, 6am to Friday, 1 October 2021, 6am.
According to NCWSC, the shutdown is meant to facilitate interconnection of the relocated pipeline to the old pipeline from the junction of Bunyala road and Uhuru Highway to the junction of Lusaka/Langata road and Mombasa Road.
The areas to be affected include:
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Standard Gauge Railways, Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZ), Coca Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, industries along North Airport Road and Embakasi village, Tassia Estate.
General Service Unit and Administration Police training schools and Nairobi Inland Container Depot,
Estates along Jogoo road including Makadara, Bahati and Maringo among other adjacent areas.
The whole of Industrial Area and adjacent areas will also be affected.
NCWSC appealed to their customers for indulgence and urged them to use available water sparingly before normal services resume.
According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA), the overall progress of the Nairobi Expressway currently stands at 63.9% while construction of the operation and monitoring center is currently at 94%.
Sections that still continue to experience traffic congestion include GM where a new footbridge is being installed and Bunyala roundabout where hoisting of box girders is still ongoing.
Below are the projected dates for opening of the closed sections to ease congestion.
JKIA –Mlolongo September 30, 2021
Westlands- James Gichuru September 30, 2021
Haile Selassie – UoN Roundabout October 15, 2021
Elevated section- Stands at 76.5%
