Politician Isaac Mwaura, has paid tribute to his late grandmother who he refers to as the matriarch of the family.
The politician described her as his second parent as she raised him and his siblings when their mother went to work.
The man said when he visited his grandmother in her last days on earth. Mwaura emotionally remembered how his grandmother saw greatness in him at a young age.
“My granny used to call me her gift from God as neighbours stood on the fence watching me as a child born with albinism. She would take me to church and she loved me.
I loved my granny ‘Wa Githaiga’ she died at nearly 90 years. She was very close to me since my mum would live me with her and my brother as she went to work. She is my second mum. She was widowed at the age of ’50s. She would hustle for us.”

Mwaura added,
“I remember one day when she had left her food in the drawer, then we were hungry and we were so many little children from different of her children.
She had four girls and only one who is successfully married. So we were many. She came from the shamba and found I had eaten her food.
She wanted to see my children. She kept praying and hoping that God would let her see my children. I remember how happy she was holding my son Njiru.
I am a very prayerful person and I had seen in the spirit that she would not live for long and I told my mother about it.”
The politician says considering the condition his grandma was in, he knew she was not gonna last.
“I had prayed that she would stay up to 2024, but I had seen she was not going to make it. I went to see her and she was in a coma.
I told one of my cousins to go and reconcile with my granny as quickly as possible. The spirit of the Lord does not lie to me.
My cousin who is named after my mum went there on a Sunday, they talked and left at around 5 pm, and by 7 pm, she had died.”
Mwaura says although death is the end journey for everyone, he wishes his grandmother stayed longer.
“I miss her and I am angry that she left me. I grew up without a father and it became even worse after her burial. I am the most successful among my cousins yet I was born different.”
