Maina Wa Nyaguthii was a renown Kikuyu Benga musician who was well grounded to be distracted by naysayers. He died in the year 2012 which left the whole country mourning the loss a talented Kikuyu man.
Some hours ago his son was in an interview where he talked about what killed his father refuting claims which circulated that his father died of HIV/AIDS. He said that his father was an alcoholic and when he was in secondary school he developed liver problem which really affected him.
Later he recovered and went back to Nairobi where he was working and he continued taking alcohol without taking care of his health. As a result of this he became dehydrated and they were always in and out of hospital until his father saw like he was becoming a burden to him and he left to live alone again.
Living alone was a challenge since he was taking alcohol again without eating and one day he fainted and he was called to take his father to hospital. His father asked him to take him home in Nyeri since he had his doctor which he did and when they reached home his father was completely weak.
He carried him to the house where he gave him some water and that was how he died. His death didn’t go well with them as a family since he was a national figure and a man who worked hard to hold his family together.
