Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday toured Makueni county where he attended the burial ceremony of an anti-government protestor who was killed during last month’s protests.

The vocal Azimio la Umoja leader was accompanied by his close allies including Makueni governor Hon Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Wycliffe Oparanya, Mwangi Wa Iria, and Eugene Wamalwa among other leaders.

While addressing mourners, former Murang’a county governor Hon Mwangi Wa Iria hit out at the government accusing it of hurting civilians through police brutality. Wa Iria said that the cases of police brutality have spiked since Kenya Kwanza took office.

He told Rail Odinga that immediately after the bipartisan talks end, they will start another process where they will demand that Kenya should be divided into two. Wa Iria said that they will consult the international community as per the law to ensure that they form their own country.

Mwangi Wa Iria alleged that those who were killed during the anti-government protests are many. He alleged that he received a call from Kenyatta Hospital where the police allegedly dropped more bodies of unknown people who were killed during the protests.

This comes as Azimio la Umoja coalition continues to call on the IPOA to probe into the case of alleged police brutality that took place during the anti-government protests. Azimio la Umoja also wants the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome to resign immediately.
