Famous Kikuyu singer Muigai Wa Njoroge has come out to clear the air on circumstances surrounding the sudden death of his colleague Muhiko Nebster Wa Wanjiru.

According to Muigai, popularly known as Kigutha, Muhiko has been battling hypertension and diabetes for years but has been managing the conditions through regular treatment and medication.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Muigai said his friend was well until today morning at 4am when he fell ill and his son Francis Muhiko rushed him to Gatundu Level 4 Hospital where unfortunately he passed on.

Muigai revealed Muhiko suffered high blood pressure which resulted to stroke that killed the talented artist.

“My friend was diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes years ago. He did not have any other health condition. Yesterday he spent the day recording new songs. Today he had planned to go video shooting. At around 4am he become unwell and his son rushed him to Gatundu hospital. His blood pressure shot up causing him to suffer stroke. My condolences to his fans and family. May God give you peace during this difficult time,” Muigai said.

Muhiko’s body has been taken to Kenyatta University Funeral Home awaiting burial which will be announced later.

His colleagues, media personalities, politicians and friends have mourned Muhiko’s sudden death saying he has left a huge gap in the industry.

“R.I.P NEBSTER MUHIKO. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of a beloved figure in the Kikuyu entertainment industry. Our deepest condolences go out to the family. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to interview and engage with this remarkable individual. May his soul find eternal peace,” posted Ala-C of Reke Ciume Na Ene YouTube channel.
