Mugiithi artist, Kareh B, whose real name is Mary Goicha, is grieving the loss of her 17-year-old son, Joseph Maduli, who tragically lost his life in a devastating bus accident.

The heart-wrenching incident took place as students were journeying from school to Nairobi for the April Holidays.

Joseph Maduli was among the students traveling aboard an Easy Coach bus from Chavakali High School to Nairobi.

However, tragedy struck when the bus was involved in a horrific accident at the Mambo Leo flyover along the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.

The accident claimed the life of Joseph Maduli, plunging his family and the nation into profound shock and sorrow.

Mary Goicha, Joseph’s grieving mother, recounted how she received the devastating news the morning after the accident, as her son failed to return home like his peers.

“I did not sleep, and at midnight, I checked social media and saw there was an accident involving Chavakali students. At 5 am, parents started receiving their children, and I kept my hopes high. I started losing hope when it was 6:30 am, and my son was not yet there,” Kareh B recalled in an interview with Citizen TV.

Describing the harrowing ordeal, Kareh B revealed that some parents were not informed about the decision to travel at night, a departure from the usual practice.

She learned of the accident through social media updates, highlighting the anguish of waiting for news about her son’s fate.

“I asked one of the teachers who was on site when the accident happened. They told me that those who got minor injuries were given phones to tell their parents that they were in the hospital,” she added.

Joseph Maduli, a Form Four student, harbored aspirations of becoming a pilot and was passionate about basketball, his mother shared, reflecting on his dreams and the void left by his untimely demise.
