Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto’s administration have announced 119 new state appointments on Friday, November 15. These appointments, made across various ministries, are expected to shape key boards and task forces.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, also serving as Foreign Affairs CS and acting Interior and Gender CS, made 10 appointments. As Interior CS, he appointed eight members to the Board of Visitors of Kamae Girls Borstal Institution. Under his Gender CS role, Teresia Jerusah Michael and Gideon Gitonga Thuranira joined the National Lottery Board.
Treasury CS John Mbadi announced 25 appointments, including a 21-member task force to investigate non-remittance of pension deductions by county governments. He also named Fatuma Hussein and Benson Ateng to the Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research, and Christine Kibet and Halima Omar to the Local Authorities Provident Fund.
CS Kipchumba Murkomen of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports also made 25 appointments. These included a 20-member task force to review Kenya’s sports framework, David Kipketer to the Anti-Doping Agency, three members to the Sports Kenya Board, and Cynthia Mumbo to the Kenya Academy of Sports Board.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi appointed three members to the National Oil Corporation Board, while Lands CS Alice Wahome named three individuals to key roles, including Mercy Okiro as chair of the National Construction Authority Board.Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir added eight members to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Team and two to the Transport Licensing Appeal Board. Cooperatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya appointed 38 individuals to Uwezo Fund constituency committees.
Agriculture CS Andrew Muhia appointed two members to the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Board. Education CS Julius Migos named Qamar Mohamed to the School Equipment Production Unit Board, following a prior appointment of Elisha Busienei as its chair.
Public Service CS Justin Muturi appointed Hussein Tene Debasso to the National Youth Service Council. Trade CS Salim Mvurya named Mwanajuma Hiribae to the Numerical Machining Complex Board.These appointments mark a significant shift as ministries align leadership to deliver on national goals.
