Thursday, the 5th of December, was indeed a special day for Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina.

This is because on the day, her stepson Travis officially turned 9-years-old. Like any other proud mother out there, the politician was also over the moon because the young one was turning a year older.

Betty Maina therefore celebrated Travis’ birthday in style even though he is not her biological son.

Taking to her Facebook account she penned him a heartwarming birthday message, in which she also wished him the very best in this new chapter of his life.

“Dear Son, May the Lord continue to watch over you, lead you, shower you with blessings and his grace shine upon you.

Happy Birthday Anniversary my dear Travis” she wrote.

Apart from the sweet message, the Murang’a Women Representative also threw her stepson a little party at home.

In the Facebook post, she also shared a photo of the birthday cake that she got for him.

What was clear is that it was decorated with famour superheroes from the DC comics and Marvel comics. This was presumably because he loved them.

Eric Wamumbi and Betty Maina
Travis is the stepson of Betty Maina because her husband, Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, had sired him with another woman.

The other woman is actually his ex-wife Catherine Nyambura, and they had sired two sons when they were still together.

Eric Wamumbi married Catherine Nyambura in 2015, and they were together for 5 years before tragedy struck in 2020, when her lifeless body was discovered from Hohwe Dam.

At the time that Catherine Nyambura passed away under mysterious circumstances, Eric Wamumbi was the Konyu Ward representative in Nyeri County.

Eric Wamumbi therefore came into the marriage with two sons that he sired with his late ex-wife.

In a similar way, Betty Maina also came into the marriage with two kids that she got in a previous relationship, a boy and a girl.

Betty Maina previously revealed that her earlier marriage failed to work out because she and her then husband were still young.

“We were both young, and I am sure if it was today, there are things we would have done better. It could be that we were both impatient for things to work out….even though we have parted ways, he remains my friend, I would be there to defend and support him if bad news came his way” Betty Maina said in an interview that she had with Jeff Kuria.
