MP Kwamboka has criticized Joel Rabuku, General Ogolla’s son, for failing to observe traditional customs during his father’s burial ceremony.

The MP called out Ogolla’s son, stating that the wife of the departed General belongs to the Ogolla’s family and should be cared for by the uncles.

He emphasized that the son has no responsibility towards Ogolla’s wife and may not understand her needs.

“There is something I want to point out: as people from the western region, we have customs. When Ogolla died, his wife became the property of the Ogolla family, led by his uncles. So, it is wrong for the son to claim he will take care of his mother. Do you know her needs? That was very unfortunate,” MP Wamboka said.

He further asserted that according to their traditions, a child is not allowed to touch his father while naked during the burial event. He stated that he was surprised to see Joel receiving his father in the grave.

He explained that if such an incident occurs, a cleansing ceremony by elders must be performed.

“When the man dies, like Ogolla, his child is not supposed to hold his father while naked. When I saw the son receiving his father in the grave, and you know he was not in a casket, he was naked. That one, unless they seek the elders to perform the cleansing,” Wamboka added.
