Kenyan gospel artist Kambua now says people should appreciate the fact that motherhood is not a bed of roses.
The mother of two says like everyone else, a mother also has dreams and ambitions to chase adding that being erratic or fatigued does not make one a bad mum.
Through her socials she shared.
“Today let’s chat about Mothering and Mental health. I know we’ve all heard of Postpartum depression and baby blues, that many mom’s experience after having a baby.
But I also want to talk about day to day mothering, how amazing it is, but also how truly exhausting it can be.
We are socialized in a way that doesn’t allow moms to say that they are tired and in need of some help. Any suggestion of such reduces you to being a ‘bad mom’ or an ‘ungrateful mom’.”

Kambua added, “The layers are even heavier on mom’s like me who have had a protracted journey to Motherhood. How dare I say that I’m exhausted??
Can we normalize the fact that Motherhood isn’t all kisses and cuddles?
Nothing in this world is void of hard, unpleasant feelings. Mothers are actually more than “just a mom”- with feelings, dreams and all.
You are still a good mom even when you’re tired, irritated, exhausted, as you are when you’re happy and energized.
What has your experience been like? Have you felt supported and understood in your motherhood journey?”
